The Potato’s rise to world-famous status began in the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic when everyone working from home began using Snap Camera to make their Zoom calls more interesting. And following the Potato Boss incident picked up by news agencies around the world, it became THE go-to lens for video conferencing fun. The Potato has since become a favorite of twitch streamers, the subject of viral memes, the persona of TikTok stars, and even referenced on the CBS sitcom American Housewife. The Potato also had a very successful ad partnership with Taco Bell announcing that “Potatoes are Back at Taco Bell”.

The Potato continues to live on in pop culture and has become synonymous with the person on the Zoom call who can’t figure out how to use the technology— it was even featured as such in the feature film Book Club: The Next Chapter.
