The Neversleep Scrolls is a hard-boiled fantasy novel series about a man named Fraenk Neversleep, who is the Arch Preceptor (or chief spymaster) for one of the powerful elf districts in Arathes, a city where humans are second-class citizens. His job is to investigate plots and protect the interests of the Blackroot family against their enemies— magical, political and diabolical. The matriarch of the family is ailing and opportunists prey on vulnerability. Fraenk is no great fighter and doesn’t weild magic. But he’s clever and determined, which will have to be enough.
The series is fast-paced, bare-knuckled, humorous, scary, and thoughtful. Imagine Game of Thrones meets Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (if such a mashup is even possible). I sincerely hope you enjoy it.
